Stress can literally kill you. Everyone gets a little stressed out every once in awhile, but if you are chronically stressed it can be doing a ton of damage to your health and to your life. You don’t have to be controlled by your stress, though.
You need to recognize what stress is, figure out what is triggering it, and then deal with it. It helps to know what it is that stress is doing to you, though, so that you can understand why it is so important to deal with it before it gets out of hand.
If you don’t deal with your stress it could cause other negative habits that can harm your health even more. Smoking may seem like it helps calm your nerves, but instead it is breaking your bank account and it could cause cancer and other health risks. Some people chose to self medicate when it comes to dealing with stress, whether through alcohol or drugs, which can lead to addiction and possibly even death.
Causes Heart Problems
Stress can cause all kinds of health issues. It can bring on high blood pressure, which increases your risk of a heart attack. The only way to deal with this illness is by getting on meds, dealing with your stress, and changing to a healthier lifestyle. If you’re experiencing rapid heartbeat, tingling in your extremities, or even chest pains when you are overly stressed it is important to visit your doctor and get your heart checked out.
Creates Friction In Life
Stress can also cause problems with your relationships as well, so external problems as well as internal ones. Instead of letting the anger and irritability you get from stress mess with your romantic relationships, family relationships, and even friendships, find some ways to calm that stress. The last thing you want is to lose a good friend because you were stressed out and in a bad mood, or to get in a fight with your significant other for no reason at all.
If you want to work on having a more stress free life there are a few things that you can do. Exercise can boost your mood and energy, whether it’s jogging or do yoga. Meditation is also an excellent way to fight stress, and is one of my alternative therapies that can be useful. Certain vitamins and herbs can help as well, including B12.
You should also look at the big picture of your life, when it comes to what might be causing your stress. Maybe it’s time to consider a new career if work has been stressing you out and having you more on edge. You may also want to look into the people in your life, as toxic people can be a huge cause of stress and unhappiness.
